Serving Kindergarten and First Grade

Kindergarten: Focus is on phonological awareness, decoding and encoding
(alphabetic principle, letter-sound correspondences, and letter formation), and the use of word families to promote automaticity in word recognition. In addition, background knowledge, vocabulary, language structure and literacy knowledge are incorporated as often as possible.

First Grade: All the Kindergarten skills are further developed. Additional emphasis is placed on phonics, fluency, comprehension and writing development.
