Welcome
As the 2-3 reading specialist, Ms. Corrigan works closely with students, parents and homeroom teachers to help all children become more successful, motivated readers. Each day, Ms. Corrigan teaches various groups of children from each of the 2nd and 3rd grade classrooms. Second grade developing readers receive small group direct instruction (8-10), with an emphasis on phonics and decoding. All third grade students enjoy the benefits of a small (12-13 students) group as they apply advanced word analysis, vocabulary and comprehension skills either with Ms. Corrigan or their homeroom teacher. Students in grades 2-3 also receive additional, more targeted reading support in weekly CORE support sessions.
