Students read Boxcar Children chapter 3: A NEW HOME IN THE WOODS.
Our target comprehension skills are: elements of plot and sequencing events.
We break the chapter apart into manageable chunks and write summary sentences that are concise and include the main idea of the section along with the most important details. This can be a challenging skill for students; however we are improving so much!
Vocabulary: We continue to review the phonograms in our vocabulary words. In addition, we review the “y to i” rule and the “double the consonant” rule when adding endings to base words with short vowel sounds.
Fluency: This week, we add voices and different emotions to the dialogue as we read, sort of like a play! We are having such fun with this story!!
