Students read Teacher’s Pets, and See Westburg by Bus!
Our target comprehension skill is: ‘story structure.’ Students identify setting, characters, problem and solution using a graphic organizer.
Students practice reading and writing words that have consonant blends with r, l, s (spin, glide, grade, etc.), and also review the CVCe (magic e) pattern.
Students review the high frequency words: both, cold, eat, find, green, little, long, says, table, we.
Students practice identifying base words as we work with word endings -ed and -ing.
This week, students brought home nightly reading calendar last week. Please make it your goal to have your child read for 15 minutes at least 3 nights a week and mark those nights with a pumpkin shape. Thank you.
Fluency: Phrasing/punctuation. When good readers read aloud, they group words in ways that make sense. Good readers use the punctuation for clues about which words go together.
