Students reads chapters 5-6 in Charlotte’s Web. We list the main characters and associate various personality traits with each. Students practice finding evidence from the text to support these traits. Evidence includes actions of the character as well as direct quotes.
We continue to search for and find meaningful quotes throughout the story. Meaningful quotes are those that make us think more deeply, react with emotion, or learn more about the character.
Students practice crafting written responses to reading that meet expected criteria:
1.) Restate the question.
2.) Answer the question being asked.
3.) Explain thinking and use text evidence.
4.) Go back and check to make sure your response makes sense.
