Our target comprehension skill is: ‘text and graphic features.’ This is an important tool as we read informational text selections.
Phonics: Students practice reading and writing words that have phonograms ai and ay.
Vocabulary: Students review the high frequency words: against, along, bird, different, girl, hold, morning, night, part, someone
Students learn about idioms. Idioms are sayings or expressions; a group of words that means something different than the meaning of each individual word.
Fluency: Rate: Good readers change their rate of reading. Sometimes, they read quickly. Other times they read slowly. Their rate depends on their purpose, or why they are reading.
Report Cards: These come home this Friday. Please look for a reading progress report from me and feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.
